Oscatwatch questions WarriorKeira : I love PoA because character interaction is more realistic and natural so my question is if GoF character interaction is more like PoA or they are back to Columbus style - lots of exposition and no real interaction. I loved those little PoA moments like when Ron is waking up from a nightmare and Harry says:"You tell those spiders" or when boys in the dorm try all-flavored candies with hilarious results, etc. === cbrownjc : Hey Equipoise! I saw your posts over on The Leaky Cauldron and noticed you posted about how the film started - from the discription, it sounds like The Riddle House scene book but a little different. Did it come off to you that it was the snake that attacked the old man or something else? Also, how was Mike Newell's overall direction of the film? Was the pacing too fast overall, or was that feeling of it being too quick mostly having to do with just wanting more story? === Malcolm: Ummm, Gary Oldman????? Siriusly, Gary Oldman??? === MsLibby: BTW....you didn't know David Tennant was the new Doctor? === nephthys: Do you remember a scene where Harry throws a "Potter stinks!" badge/button pin at Ron, and hits Ron's forehead? === Screenwriter: I think they are fantastic. Everyone wants to rip on Columbus. "Oh, Cauron made it so much darker, thank GOD!" Well, folks, if you've read the books, Cauron got the FIRST DARK BOOK! The first movie is Harry's AWE and Wonder and Warm FUzzies. Read the book. It's kid's play. And the first movie beautifully captures that feeling. The second film is the adventure book. It's harry on an adventure without the real peril. And the second film, again, gets it right. In fact, it makes the Basilisk scene MUCH darker than I read it. The third film is the first of the puberty books. And with puberty comes darkness and really seeing the world around you. I LOVE what Cauron did, don't' get me wrong, but saying Columbus's TONE was wrong in the first two films...you're way off. And calling Azkaban a jumbled mess...well, ya need to know that the book isn't all that well put together either. It's a book with a climax within the climax. === pokute: Equipoise, I appreciate you so much, but I am DYING to know whether Ron's character has been dumbed down like the rest of the movies, or whether it is more true to his book character in this movie. === fifilein: what about the yule ball, is it a huge part in the film or are there just few scenes. === Meddy: Lovely thread to read. I just have a query or three, is it noted that Fleur is part Veela? and in the book the Veela were the mascots for the Bulgarian team doe they make an appearance in the World Cup Section?, does Krum attack Cedric in the Maze? and is there mention that Durmstrang actually teaches the Dark Arts as well as Defence against the Dark Arts? === Lady Lampost: Was there nothing in the story about Rita (The Journalist) being an animagus? (highlight to read, spoiler if you haven't read.) I mean I guess it would be a good part of the book to leave out. But, just wondering! the_kreacher : good one , has she been shown as a...... person? Also thanks for posting this topic been very helpful as a fan of the HP world === the_kreacher: Equipoise you said you haven't read the book... So why dont you have a read and then tell us if its true to the story. That would be great to know how well they did it Artimus: Yeah, read the 500 page book with no prior knowledge of the novels just so we can find things to obsess over. Heck, read all 5 novels! (Brazil sig) === WarriorKeira: But many important stuff still didn`t make the cut and I`m talking about really important stuff for the story arc. Like, explaning who Marauders are as well as Snape`s hate for Harry`s father - awfully important stuff for movies 4-7. Or unforgivable omission from CoS movie where Voldemort`s entire background story about dumped mom didn`t make the cut, but Quidditch chase went on for 20 minutes instead. It`s terribly important to know exactly where Voldemort comes from and they edited it out! Now I hear that only Karkarov trial made the cut in GoF but no mention of Bella Lestrange who is the major player in OoP and very likely HBP (and/or Book 7). karkarov is a likely one-off character but Bella is big and yet her trial isn`t in GoF. I wonder if the story of Neville Longbottom`s parents was mentioned in GoF at all. === cbrownjc: As to HP shipper wars - I say just let Harry/Hermione/Ron have a threesome and then everyone will be happy! === hp_lover845: how was katie leung's acting in the movie or did she just have a small roole. === GolightlyL Please Equipoise, tell me that they didn't portray Hermione as super-woman in this one. I bet they left out S.P.E.W., they left out everything that indicates that Hermione is *not* perfect. They always do that. In the movies there are moments where you serioulsy doubt Harry is the real hero of the story, I mean it's all about Hermione looking bloody perfect and stealing Ron's lines I hate those producers. === Evenstar: Can one of you post the link to Leaky Cualdron where Equipoise is talking the 4th film? Thanks. === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
